About Shannon Peters
I live in Sydney with my supportive husband and wonderful family – and a beagle that is supposed to be very intelligent (the jury is still out on that one). I’ve grown up with a blind father and a diabetic mother, who have shown me how much you can achieve if you put your mind to it. I always had my nose in a book (I even hid novels in my text books at school!) and I loved to act out my favourite scenes (and yes, my family thought I was a little weird, but loved me anyway).
I’ve wanted to write for as long as I can remember. I even penned a short story (that somehow developed into quite a saga) at the tender age of 16. That particular story will never again see the light of day, but I’m still trying (and hopefully improving!). An interest in martial arts spawned a love of action and intrigue, and an interest in the opposite sex spawned a love of all things romantic. And sexy. And sensual. And hot. And – well, you get the idea.
When I finally decided to get serious about writing I found out how little I actually knew about the craft. Surely anyone can write a story, right? Well, um, no. I had a burning need to put the stories in my head onto paper (or data storage device in this technical age) and basically stalled after typing “Chapter One”.
By joining Romance Writers of Australia and meeting other supportive authors I’ve learned a lot, and written a lot (and I’ve learned I’ll never know everything about writing!). I joined a writers group (affectionately called The Coven, because of our cackling), and I’m forever grateful for the support and wisdom that is handed down over chocolate biscuits and champagne.
I now love to write stories that make you shiver – for all the right reasons! Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading them! Thanks for your time.
